Payment Card Processing 101 Playlist
I have had the privilege of mentoring and providing customized training to many individuals and teams during my almost 30 years in the payments industry. My students have worked in various roles, like product, finance, operations, back office, and disputes. They all worked in the payment card industry – whether for banks, credit unions, acquirers, service providers, manufacturers, or payment networks.
Over my years of providing training, I have curated a core list of topics that I think every person in the payments industry needs to know and know well. These topics establish a foundation of understanding that my students have been able to build on. I have watched most of my students’ careers soar as they have been able to learn much more quickly than their peers because they have been given a solid foundation of payment card principles and concepts.
In a typical mentoring / training engagement, I take around 9 months to impart this core knowledge and its implications into my students. We start with a 4 to 5 day intensive training session. Then, over the next several months, we meet twice a week for one to two hours per session. In these sessions, we cover these core topics in detail and integrate this knowledge into the student’s current role.
This is a challenging yet empowering curriculum.
For a long time, I have wanted to make a video series to introduce the range of topics my training curriculum covers. This series would not be the training itself, just an orientation or introduction to the topics covered in the training.
